Carol’s Cafe keeps customers coming back again and again, year after year because the food is homemade and delicious. The staff is fun and friendly, and their location, nestled in the forest beside the lake, is stunning. Many prefer dining on the deck that overlooks the water. Others land at an inside table or take a seat at their quaint, old fashioned counter.
A courtesy dock allows diners to come by boat for their meal. They are also right by the Lake Almanor Recreation Trail which offers over 12 miles of paved trails;most of the trails follow the shoreline. Trail parking is just down the road from Carol’s.
The cafe is open daily from 7:30am until5:00pm. Dinner is offered Friday-Sunday.Carol’s famous Sunday night fried chicken dinner is served family style with all the trimmings. The nightly menu also features prime rib and vegetarian options. How about braised pork with creole sauce? Enjoy nightly specials on Friday and Saturday.Standard favorites are plentiful, including pastas, chicken, fish and their generous Steak Delmonico. The menu is long and with so many tantalizing choices you will see why so many folks return to Carol’s Cafe all summer long.
Every other Thursday night International Theme Dinners are featured with special menus from around the world. This year the themed dinners will be held on Thursdays. Carol loves to cook and has taught in a culinary academy; she is always adding some-thing new and specials are common at Carol’s Cafe.
Their breakfasts are amazing. A wide variety of omelettes fill the menu. Breakfast and daily specials include homemade muffins and fresh made biscuits and gravy. Waffles,blueberry pancakes, house-smoked ham andApplewood smoked bacon are just a few of the tasty items you will find on the menu or lined up in a special at Carol’s Cafe.From home cooked burgers and buns to stellar salads and a variety of sandwiches,Carol has them coming back for lunch too.Salad choices include Cobb, Spinach and Bacon, and New Mexico with shrimp ochien.
All the salad dressings are made from scratch; every-thing is homemade at Carols. Kids are treated special at Carol’s with their own menu to choose from and to color. Affordable, nutritious choices include Homemade Mac‘n Cheese, fried chicken and dollar size pancakes, to name a few. Many will tell you the best part about Carol’s is the homemade pies. Check out the many choices avail-able each day. Have pie with your meal or pick up some to take back to camp.Carol’s also offers catering for all size events.Make your way to the west shore by bicycle, boat or via Highway 89. Take Prattville Butt Reservoir Road off89 and turn right at the bottom of the hill.
